Kidwelly is a town in Carmarthenshire, Wales, approximately 7 miles (11 km) northwest of the most populous town in the county, Llanelli. In the 2011 census Kidwelly returned a population of 3,523. It lies on the River Gwendraeth above Carmarthen Bay. Local attractions include Kidwelly Castle, the former quay (now a nature reserve), a Norman parish church, an industrial museum and Kidwelly Carnival which is an annual event held on the second Saturday of July.
