Carmarthenshire

Carmarthen is the County town of Carmarthenshire, with a population of 14,185 in 2011. It lies on the River Towy and claims to be the oldest town in Wales. The former cattle market underwent regeneration, opening a new shopping centre in 2010 that includes a cinema, market hall, restaurants and multi-storey car park. Carmarthen is the home to Dyfed-Powys Police HQ, Glangwilli Hospital, University of Wales Trinity St David campus, Carmarthen castle ruins, Carmarthen Bridge and Picton's Monument.
